The recent market volatility has created more need for structured products that offer diversification. With the rise of external asset managers (EAMs), structured products sales and technology initiatives in the region, it is little surprise that the market has converged.Acting as the technology platform to bring EAMs and structured product offerings together, Leonteq has monopolised the market. This year alone Leonteq worked with two EAMs in Hong Kong, CAIDAO Wealth and Veco Invest Asia, to roll out an actively managed multi-manager FX strategy – one that is more usually available to institutional clients. Leonteq’s role was to wrap the exposure into an actively managed certificate format which allows for smaller ticket sizes.
Indeed, the structured products distribution provider has bulked up its team and product offering to keep pace with the growing demand and number of EAMs in the region.
“With the ability to offer 400 products, and having grown to 50 staff in Hong Kong and Singapore with further expansion in the next 12 to 18 months, Leonteq is well- positioned to provide EAMs with structured products solutions where clients can view price quotes in real time, gain access to market research for risk and redemption knowledge, term sheet access and launch a product with us,” said David Schmid, CEO Asia, Leonteq.
Over the last year, Leonteq has witnessed growth of 20% in Asia and it continues to grow at strong rates due to its unique business model and leadership in the rapidly evolving technology product platform space. Its commitment to the space and region is evidenced by Leonteq’s ambitions to also expand geographically.
“Leonteq plans to expand regionally by entering new markets such as mainland China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan in the mid-term. We aim at serving EAMs, Private Banks and institutional clients across the region,” Schmid added.
Launching 50 to 60 new products a day globally, Leonteq is well positioned to capture the EAM growth space and is this year’s deserved winner for the Best Structured Products for EAMs award.
