For the second year in a row, Citi has dominated the Asian market for US equity-linked structured products.Recognised for its consistency and service dedication to clients in the asset class, private banking gatekeepers have opted for Citi as the best provider in this space. Citi has won the Best Provider of US Equity-linked Flow Structured Products award with a strong alignment of trading, structured and sales across teams in Asia and the US.
“Our New York-based trading teams still begin their day when we do – Citi’s global network is a competitive advantage. As the US is our home market it makes sense that we should bring our strength to our valued clients in the Asian time zones,” said Bernard Wai, managing director and APAC head of private client solutions sales, Citi Markets and Securities Services.
“This means tight coordination, price competitiveness and an ongoing commitment to the range of solutions we offer into the private bank segment,”
Indeed, as global markets tumbled this summer, Citi proved well equipped to deal with the turbulence through its broad multi-asset platform and as a provider of a range of global investment and hedging opportunities.
“For example, the recent rocky period for China equities led some investors to return to US equities and we saw good flows across our platform,” Wai added, noting that irrespective of market conditions, structured product flow remained steady.
Citi has been able to deliver a strong flow of US-equity linked structured products including familiar instruments such as equity linked notes and accumulators. Technology stocks have also been a strong theme, Wai noted, with high demand for US technology and innovation stocks, particularly the bigger household names.
