Today, our alternatives expertise is one of Pictet’s key strategic capabilities, spanning capital structure across equity and debt in private equity, real estate, private debt and hedge funds, and strategies across commingled and bespoke solutions, either directly, through selected managers, as well in co-investments.
We are an independent alternative advisor, putting our clients’ interests first and ensuring our interests are aligned. We are not distributors of third-party alternative funds, we invest in the long-term with managers throughout market cycles, and extend that buyside activity to our clients. We create bespoke alternative investment solutions for our clients across hedge funds and private markets, focusing on research, seeking to identify and select top-tier investment managers while applying a rigorous due diligence process, as well as portfolio construction and portfolio management.
With alternatives becoming an increasingly important component of our clients’ portfolios, this is an area where Pictet can add true alpha.
What was behind the judges’ decision?
- Eight years ago a dedicated alternatives investments team was established in Asia, which has since spearheaded growth in alternative investments throughout the region. Beginning in Singapore and later expanding to Hong Kong, this initiative has enabled them to cater to the needs of China-focused bankers and clients as well
- From direct investment in private equity to multi-manager debt, ESG-focused thematic private equity, private equity co-investment, and real estate co-investment – the product platform has recently become home to several new alternatives strategies
- The team’s specialised focus on research helps them select top-tier investment managers in hedge funds, private equity, and real estate, resulting in a rigorous manager due diligence and selection process. Key areas such as ESG integration, compliance, fee structures, team turnaround, exit strategy, and fund size are meticulously screened
