What was behind the judges’ decision?

  • UBS Global Wealth Management remains a driving force behind the Swiss private bank’s global business, with the regional unit contributing about 60% of global net new money in 3Q2023, as well as leading the way in sales of alternative investments and structured products. The bank also demonstrated strong profitability in Asia Pacific despite the challenges and costs associated with the integration of Credit Suisse. UBS Global Wealth Management also illustrated several case studies in which the bank was able to convince UHNW clients of the “power of two”, leading to deposits of multiple billions of dollars in net new money
  • In Asia Pacific, UBS Global Wealth Management convinced the judging panel that it continues to provide a market-leading one-bank offering and one of the best alternative investment offerings. For one-bank and global family offices, the lender has continued to refine and improve where appropriate, such as increasing seamless connectivity between private banking, global markets and corporate finance. For alternatives, UBS Global Wealth Management proved that it has continuously and successfully engaged in successful fund-raisings for capacity limited and leading performance hedge funds and private markets during the review period
  • The bank also demonstrated its innovation credentials by launching Asia Pacific-focused offerings UBS Circle One and WE.UBS. The former takes consumer platforms such as Netflix and TikTok as inspiration to aggregate hyper-personalised multimedia content ranging from CIO views to reading clubs and live webinars. The latter is the first digital-only wealth management offering set up by a global private bank in mainland China and provides a one-stop shop for clients to embark on their wealth planning journey using the power of big data and UBS Global Wealth Management house views

What we said

“UBS Global Wealth Management’s victory across nine categories in Asian Private Banker’s Awards for Distinction 2023 is a testament to the Swiss powerhouse’s strength and depth across a broad array of private banking solutions, markets and business lines,” said Daniel Shane, editor of Asian Private Banker. “What was all the more remarkable is that the bank excelled across the spectrum – ranging from regional coverage to sustainability, to investments, to its onebank proposition – in a year when it faced the towering complexity and challenges of integrating its historic rival, Credit Suisse.”

“The proof is ultimately in the pudding. During 3Q2023 alone, UBS Global Wealth Management in Asia Pacific recorded an incredible haul of US$13.1 billion in net new money – a decisive vote of confidence from its regional client base. Moreover, about US$4 billion was from Credit Suisse clientele, reversing five consecutive quarters of client outflows.

“From record mandate penetration to new digital offerings to continued refinements to an already market-leading one bank offering, UBS Global Wealth Management is a worthy winner of Asian Private Banker’s accolade for Best Private Bank – Asia Pacific at the Awards for Distinction 2023.”
