Riding the wave of the times, ushering in a new chapter of wealth management
On 17 November 2025, CMB International’s new Private Wealth Management Centre grandly opened in Central, Hong Kong.
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Merchants Bank, CMB International leverages the strong financial backing and outstanding social reputation of its parent bank to deeply cultivate professional wealth management services and is committed to creating a private banking experience that transcends traditional definitions.
The new centre is not only an upgrade in the space of private wealth management, but also a strategic platform to connect clients with top global resources and build a haven for the safekeeping and continuation of family wealth.
The opening ceremony was attended by Zhao Yue from the private banking department of China Merchants Bank’s head office, Liu Zhiyuan, assistant director-general of Invest Hong Kong, and key clients and partners who have grown alongside CMB International, all of whom witnessed this momentous occasion.
The opening of CMB International’s new Private Wealth Management Centre marks another upgrade to its international wealth management strategic landscape, demonstrating its professionalism and strength in global wealth management.
As Huo Jianjun, general manager of CMB International, stated at the opening ceremony of the Private Banking Centre: “Professionalism is the foundation of CMB International’s existence and the basis for its future success. Currently, the capital market in Hong Kong is stabilising and improving, and the confidence in investment is gradually recovering, presenting both opportunities and challenges.
“The level of our professional capabilities directly determines whether we can seize opportunities, serve our clients well, and realise long-term value. The Private Wealth Management Centre, launched today, is a crucial platform for putting ‘professional capabilities create global opportunities’ into practice.”
Standing as a window to the world, controlling the global wealth landscape
In 2025, Hong Kong’s capital markets have not only been vibrant, but its wealth management ecosystem has also flourished. CMB International, with a global perspective and adhering to the business philosophy of “customer-centricity, creating value for clients, and thereby achieving its own value growth,” provides global institutional, corporate, and individual clients with comprehensive and high-quality financial services covering wealth management, corporate finance, asset management, equities, and structured finance.
As one of the company’s three key business segments, as of November 2025, the growth rate of its private wealth management scale has doubled compared to 2024, with client bases covering multiple regions, including Greater China, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Based on the comprehensive needs of our clients and their families and businesses, we have created a comprehensive service platform integrating “people, families, businesses, and society.”
In 2025, we successfully assisted multiple clients’ companies in listing in Hong Kong. Working closely with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, we helped client companies achieve their listing goals in Hong Kong. As of October 2025, CMB International had underwritten 41 Hong Kong IPO projects, ranking first in the market. We collaborated with InvestHK and the OASES to help many clients’ companies establish business lines in Hong Kong, completing their first step in overseas expansion.
In 2025, we focused on our clients’ intergenerational wealth transfer needs. With the first Asian generation of wealth creators entering the transition period, a historic window for wealth transfer has opened. According to a joint research report by China Merchants Bank Private Banking and Bain & Company, over 70% of high net worth individuals have begun preparing for wealth succession.
First-generation entrepreneurs, as the client group most concerned with intergenerational succession planning, expect private wealth management institutions to provide professional support, including business succession and wealth transfer. Therefore, the comprehensive service needs for family succession extension are also a strategic focus of our services.
We offer exclusive service solutions for family-level clients, encompassing family trusts, family offices, legal and tax consulting, asset allocation, equity structure optimisation, and family governance. We also fully leverage the resources of our group platform to create a one-stop service model.
CMB International will capitalise on the close connectivity between Hong Kong and Mainland China to accurately seize the historic opportunity for cross-border wealth allocation and leverage the unique advantages of the Hong Kong market to achieve sustained high-speed growth.
CMB International believes that in today’s complex global economic landscape, the core and essence of wealth management goes far beyond asset preservation and appreciation. CMB International will, and will always be, concerned about the foresight in asset investment, the security of wealth management, and the intergenerational transfer of family wealth.
