Job Description

Asian Private Banker, one of the region’s fastest-growing, most ambitious, and market-moving financial publications, is looking for a Researcher to join its fast-growing research department. The Researcher will play a key role supporting our Head of Research and helping our research team to map the key figures in the private banking and private wealth industry across Asia.

The ideal candidate is a young professional with a go-getter attitude, a real interest in the financial industry, strong work ethic, advanced communication skills and a desire to fast track their career in private banking.

Candidates must

  • Demonstrate initiative in abundance and eagerness to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Be capable of working on multiple research projects, under limited supervision
  • Be knowledgeable about the private banking and the asset management industry
  • Have the desire to build a solid network in the private banking industry
  • Be confident and capable of conducting meetings with senior industry figures
  • Possess a presence and gravitas beyond their years
  • Be proactive, and excellent team-players

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • contribute to research design
  • conduct desktop research and assist with data collection
  • contact and interview private bankers, wealth managers, asset managers
  • draft reports and white papers
  • participate in field research trips
  • build up and maintain databases as well as conduct data analysis
  • liaise with other departments of Asian Private Banker (particularly digital and editorial departments) to build relevant digital products and databases
  • perform administrative tasks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, economics, international relations, journalism, management.
  • 1-3 years experience in academic and/or corporate research
  • excellent command of spoken and written English
  • strong project management skills
  • knowledge of Cantonese, Putonghua and/or other Asian languages is a distinct advantage
  • strong Excel skills
  • exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport and cultivate relationships
  • good organizational skills and resourcefulness
  • ability to thrive in a fast-paced, pressurized environment
  • Independent and capable of performing tasks with limited supervision
