The core to our strength is the trust and the close relationships that we have built with clients and their family office professionals over the years. 2022 was a significant year for us as we grew and expanded our global family and institutional wealth coverage model globally.

This award is an affirmation to the success of our unique one-bank model that provides clients the wealth management and institutional coverage, capabilities and opportunities they cannot get anywhere else.

What was behind the judges’ decision?

  • Despite a challenging underlying market environment, UBS Global Wealth Management managed to grow revenue derived from its ‘one bank’ proposition as well as net new fee generating assets from this division, thanks in part to the broad array of solutions and opportunities the bank was able to present to this client base
  • Compared with 2021, UBS has substantially tightened the linkages and collaboration between wealth management, investment banking and asset management to bring better-than-ever opportunities and execution capabilities to family office clients. One of the best illustrations of this are the bank’s so-called Agile Market Pods, which optimise the delivery of one-bank solutions to clients by bringing together senior market specialists from across the UBS group — from lending, to markets, to prime brokerage
  • In terms of thought leadership and family office client engagement, UBS Global Wealth Management steadfastly provided market-leading insights and content. During 2022, the bank hosted family office events in Asia-Pacific with themes ranging from IT infrastructure and cybersecurity, to cryptocurrencies, to how to build an endowment-style portfolio
  • During the submission process, UBS Global Wealth Management compellingly illustrated several major client case studies that highlighted how the bank is delivering full institutional solutions to family office clients, including one Hong Kong tycoon who was able to diversify from traditional sectors towards ESG and the new economy, while taking advantage of strategic M&A opportunities

Global family and institutional wealth has long been a strategic focus for UBS Global Wealth Management, but 2022 was arguably the year when this proposition came into its own. With considerably expanded coverage over the last 12 months or so, UBS Global Wealth Management has staked its claim to be the ‘house bank’ for what are some of the world’s most demanding and discerning clients.
