Research Assistant

Job Description

Asian Private Banker, one of the region’s fastest-growing, most ambitious, and market-moving financial publications, is looking for a research assistant to join to its fast-growing research department. The researcher assistant will play a key role in supporting the research team to map the key figures and fund flows in Asia’s private banking industry.

The ideal candidate is a young professional or fresh graduate with a go-getter attitude, a real interest in the financial industry, strong work ethic, advanced communication skills and a desire to fast track their career in private banking. He/She will be available to join the team as soon as possible and will NOT require a visa sponsorship

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to research design
  • Conduct desktop research and assist with data collection
  • Contact and interview private bankers, wealth managers, asset managers
  • Draft reports and white papers
  • Participate in field research trips
  • Build up and maintain databases and conduct data analysis
  • Liaise with other departments of Asian Private Banker (particularly digital and
    editorial departments) to build relevant digital products and databases
  • Perform administrative tasks

Requirements

  • Demonstrate initiative in abundance and eagerness to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Have basic knowledge about private banking and the asset management industry
  • Have the desire to build a solid network in the private banking industry
  • Be capable of conducting research under limited supervision
  • Be confident and capable of conducting meetings with senior industry figures
  • Possess a presence and gravitas beyond their years
  • Be proactive, and excellent team-players

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, international relations, journalism, management. Graduates from other departments are also welcome to apply. Master degree is a strong plus.
  • 0-3 years of experience in academic and/or corporate research
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Knowledge of Cantonese, Putonghua and/or other Asian languages is a distinct advantage
  • Strong Excel skills. Knowledge of SPSS, R studio is a strong plus
  • Good organizational skills and resourcefulness
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, pressurized environment
  • Independent and capable of performing tasks with limited supervision
