Asian Private Banker successfully hosted the China Wealth Awards 2025 gala dinner in Shanghai on Thursday, gathering the brightest minds in China’s private banking and wealth management industry.
Against a glittering backdrop, the event brought together about 140 industry leaders and offered high-level networking, insightful discussion, and formal recognition of industry-leading excellence.
Beyond celebrating individual and institutional success, the gala reinforced a shared commitment to global best practices, setting a high benchmark for the industry’s future development.
The night’s top individual accolades were awarded to:
- Private Banker of the Year: Sara Chan (陈妙英), China CITIC Bank International Private Banking
- Wealth Leader of the Year: Owen Wu (吴显鏖), CICC Wealth Management
- CIO of the Year: Desmond Kuang (匡正), HSBC Bank (China)
- Economist of the Year: Hong Hao (洪灏), Lotus Asset Management
Key awards recognising excellence in the Chinese private banking sector included Best Private Bank – National – Domestic Market, awarded to Agricultural Bank of China, and Best Private Bank – Joint Stock – Domestic Market, which went to China Merchants Bank.
Foreign player HSBC also delivered a standout performance, securing several top prizes, including Best Private Bank – GBA and Best Private Bank – High Net Worth – Domestic Market.
Reflecting the industry’s evolving nature, this year’s programme introduced new International Market categories. China CITIC Bank International Private Banking triumphed in this debut, taking home the award for Best Private Bank – Joint Stock – International Market.
In the wealth management arena, CICC Wealth Management and CITIC Securities prevailed across both domestic and international markets, a testament to their successful multi-year strategies and continuous innovation.
