About the speakers

Albert Chiu
Executive Chairman, Asia Pacific Region, EFG Bank

Albert Chiu, is the Executive Chairman of EFG Bank for Asia Pacific Region.

Albert joined EFG in 2000 and founded the Asia operations. In 2009, he became the CEO of EFG in Asia Pacific. Under his stewardship, EFG Asia has grown exponentially and its Asian business became profitable within a year. EFG Asia Pacific region has now more than 700 employees and manages close to CHF30 billion of clients assets after the recent closing of the acquisition of majority stake in Shaw and Partners.

Albert has spoken at many industry forums on the changing landscape of private banking and was named “Private Banker of the Year” by Asian Private Banker Awards for Distinction in 2017. Under his leadership, EFG Bank was also voted as the Best Pure Play Private Bank in Asia for 5 consecutive years by Asiamoney.

Prior to joining EFG, he was with HSBC Bank USA and Citibank N.A.

Albert holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He also obtained a Higher Diploma on Asian Studies from The Sophia University of Japan and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Currently, Albert is serving as the Honorable Chairman of the Jazz Association of Singapore and since July 2018, he was awarded Distinguished Patrons of the Art by the National Arts Council of Singapore for three consecutive years. He is also the Co- Chairman of the Harvard Asia Scholarship Council and sits on the Chairman for the EFG Young Atheletes Foundation in Hong Kong. Albert was commissioned in the Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst in the UK and had served as a volunteer British Army Officer with The Royal Hong Kong Regiment. He was also a FIFA Class Soccer Referee from 2000 to 2005 for FIFA.

EFG international operates in around 40 locations worldwide and its shares are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. EFG is a leading player in private banking with a growing presence in Asia.

Alex Sim
Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer, UOB Private Bank

Mr. Alex Sim is Chief Operating Officer of UOB Private Bank. He oversees UOB Private Bank’s operations, including digital strategy implementation, process improvements and client fulfilment.

A member of the UOB Private Bank Executive Committee, Alex also has primary oversight of risk and regulatory management and is responsible for risk governance and control processes for UOB Private Bank.

Prior to joining UOB Private Bank in 2014, Alex held management positions in risk management, risk controls and process excellence at three international financial institutions. He started his career more than 20 years ago at a leading accounting firm and took on a consultant role at an international consulting firm for five years.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia and is an active Lean Six Sigma practitioner (Green Belt).

Greg King
Senior Director, Wealth Product Strategy, FactSet

Mr. Greg King is Senior Director, Wealth Management and Digital Solutions Strategy and Product Development at FactSet. In this role, he focuses on the allocation of resources for the Wealth Management & Digital business line; from market research and product development to go-to-market delivery of sales and marketing plan.

Mr. King moved to London from the U.S. in 1999. Prior to leading FactSet’s Wealth Management Strategy, he spent eight years as Director of Workstation Solutions for the EMEA and APAC regions, and before that, was Vice President, Institutional Sales in FactSet’s UK Investment Management region. Mr. King earned a degree in Economics from Boston College and is a CFA charterholder.

Andrew Shale (Moderator)
Chief Executive Officer, Asian Private Banker

Andrew Shale is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Asian Private Banker.

A graduate in Modern Chinese Studies from the University of Leeds, Andrew has lived and worked in Asia since 1989. A former investment banker at Shenyin Wanguo International, W.I. Carr and CLSA Securities, Andrew has worked in financial publishing and events since the late 1990s.

Andrew speaks Putonghua, is married and has three children.
