Eleanor Lam

Managing Director, Market Head, SEA, Deutsche Bank

From being a former national swimmer to a seasoned banker with over 25 years of experience in the Asia Pacific wealth management industry, Eleanor Lam is renowned for her deep market expertise, client-centric approach, and exceptional leadership skills.

Joining the German lender just over two years ago, Lam came from Credit Suisse, where she was a senior client partner managing a diverse portfolio across Southeast Asia. Credit Suisse was once known for its one-bank culture, making Lam the ideal banker to translate that model into Deutsche Bank.

Her collaborative mindset has enabled her to create innovative cross-divisional and cross-border business opportunities, leveraging Deutsche Bank’s comprehensive product suite across wealth management, investment banking, and corporate banking to deliver tailored solutions for clients and their businesses.

“I take particular pride in driving bank-wide collaboration successfully,” Lam said. Her track record includes facilitating and closing numerous transactions spanning diverse entity types, industries, and geographies.

Her ability to seamlessly connect private client needs with broader business objectives has been a hallmark of her career, delivering impactful solutions for clients at every stage of her professional journey.

“I draw inspiration from my clients, finding fulfilment in deeply understanding their needs and crafting bespoke financial solutions to help them achieve their goals,” she said. Beyond this, her passion for collaboration and teamwork shines through. She thrives working with colleagues from different divisions and with different expertise to achieve shared objectives.

As a senior female banking professional, Lam is equally driven by her commitment to making a positive impact in the industry and serving as a role model for aspiring leaders.

Many may not know of Lam’s multifaceted life, including her background as a former national swimmer in the 1990s while still in school. She credits her athletic experience with instilling resilience, focus, dedication, inclusivity, and perseverance – qualities she applies to both her personal and professional life.

Though she has “retired” from the sport, she remains actively involved in sports through her family, supporting her two sons, who played competitive tennis, and her daughter, a current national tennis athlete representing Singapore.

“I value dedicated family time, ensuring I am disconnected from work to be fully present, even if just for an hour over dinner at home.”
