Many moments have defined Jeffrey Tan’s professional life as a private banker, but what stands in particular is joining Bank of Singapore the year it was founded, in 2010.

“I have witnessed the bank’s growth into one of the best and most well-respected institutions worldwide, which is one of the biggest milestones of my career,” shared Tan, who is the market group head, APAC at Bank of Singapore.

Tan currently leads the bank’s strategy and client engagement for ultra and high net worth clients in Singapore and Malaysia. He also heads the core wealth segment in Singapore and oversees the strategy for BOS Wealth Management Malaysia.

His career began over 30 years ago as a regional corporate banker, with each milestone leading to greater responsibilities. In 2001, he joined Merrill Lynch International Bank, managing financial products across the region and eventually becoming the bank’s chief representative before moving to Bank of Singapore in 2010 as market head.

Having grown alongside the now 15-year-old private bank, Tan takes great pride in identifying, nurturing, and grooming many young bankers into successful private banking careers.

“What inspires and motivates me in my professional life is my team and colleagues,” Tan said. “Their hard work, determination, and camaraderie inspire me to give my best every day.”

He added: “Being surrounded by like-minded individuals who are humble and have a never-ending thirst for knowledge and self-improvement is another motivating factor and a continuous source of inspiration.”

Beyond banking, Tan seeks to enhance his knowledge to deepen his professional expertise. He finds passion in travelling – to explore new friends, places, cultures and food – and loves reading as he strives to be a lifelong learner.

Tan holds a bachelor’s degree in banking and finance from Monash University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).
