A private pilot with a passion for flying, Yu Jin Tay has not only flown to various destinations but has also steadily elevated his career over more than 25 years in leading private banks such as EFG, Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, and Citi Private Bank.

Currently serving as the market group head for Southeast Asia at EFG Singapore, Tay was a successful private banker before moving into several leadership roles.

He rejoined EFG, a Swiss boutique bank, in 2019 as team head and was appointed deputy head of private banking Southeast Asia in 2021. In 2024, he took on his current role, where he drives the bank’s strategic growth and client engagement across the region.

From traditional private banking to in-house asset management and coverage of the multi-family office segment, the EFG brand has gained significant recognition, attracting strong talent in Southeast Asia. Tay has also grown alongside the bank, becoming a renowned figure in the industry.

Many may not know that Tay is a private pilot who enjoys flying with his family to destinations like Malacca and Jackson Hole.

He added that flying requires astute judgment, composure, and the ability to navigate unexpected situations, traits he often draws on to lead his team through today’s complex environment. “Plus, the view is phenomenal!” he added.

Tay holds both a Master of Business Administration from NUS and a Master of Science in wealth management from SMU, funded by the MAS scholarship.
